What We Did Wednesday: Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Well if you didn't know today, March 2nd is Dr. Seuss's birthday and I'm a bit late in posting this but we've had such a fun filled day today. Dr. Seuss born Theodor Seuss Geisel in 1904, published 44 children's books in his time that are still loved and read everyday. In conjunction with the beloved author's birthday, March 2 is also the annual date for National Read Across America Day, an initiative on reading created by the National Education Association. Now if you missed out on the celebration today, March is National Reading Month and you can have your own celebration all month long. Read as many of your favorite Dr. Seuss book and building activities from them for a day of fun and games.

Today we had a Suesstacular celebration, green eggs and all! We created a Green Eggs and Ham placemat by coloring this printable placemat. Glued it to a 11x17 bright green sheet of construction paper and covered it with low tack contact paper on both sides to protect it from spills. We read and enjoyed our own green eggs and ham, some jiggly wiggly jello, and crazy Thing 1 & Thing 2 cupcakes, so sweet your teeth will hurt just looking at them, but oh so yummy. We colored other Dr. Seuss character sheets and ended the night watching original Dr. Seuss cartoons. I had planned to play our Dr. Seuss board games but there are only so many hours in a day, so our celebration just may continue tomorrow.
